I’m passionate about working with the peaks and valleys in young adulthood and adulthood. I’ve spent the last 15 years , mostly in Chicago, working in areas such as sexual abuse/assault and domestic violence, community based trauma and mental health, neighborhood based health care, and corrections.
I’ve learned that I LOVE to work with people who struggle to manage the ups and downs of their emotions but aren’t sure why, want to set more boundaries with others in their life, are trying to break cycles of generations of trauma in the family, have a history of chaotic and inconsistent caregivers and relationships, and have recently had life altering transitions . In addition, I have a passion for providing recovery/sober support for those who are navigating life in sobriety, are trying to remain sober (new or long term sobriety), and/or are partners of people in recovery.
A note on treatment models and frameworks– If you are interested in a specific type of treatment please note that I will often draw from a variety of areas and I don't believe one model fits everything and all people. In my practice I am informed by, and will utilize components of, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level 1, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and The Person of the Therapist. I consider these tools and frames in which to add to the work and I am also mindful of their limitations in healing and acknowledging the impacts of racism, oppression, and micro-aggressions on the spirit.
On a personal note, I identify as mixed race and have been sober for over a decade. I love reading, exploring the PNW, spending time with my daughter and family, loving on my rescue greyhound Tink, and making music playlists. If you have questions about my approach and would like to explore if we could be a good match in your growth, please schedule an appointment.
